H.R. 2749 = Totalitarian Food Control & Food Police:
www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd

During the 2nd vote in two days, the House rules were suspended on 7/30/09 & this bill passed the House. I haven't found the Senate version yet, nor when the Senate will vote on this. The Senate met today.

This extremely nefarious bill will outlaw all natural & organic farming practices, including backyard gardens, unless the farmer can pay $100,000 - $500,000/day in civil penalties &/or spend 10-yrs in prison. It allows the gov't to control all farming operations, including confiscating farmer's land, mandating what crops farmers can plant, what seeds they use, what pesticides they must spray, what livestock is fed, injected with, how they're cared for/maintained, along with high fees to license & track individual livestock animals. All this will be enforced under the martial law enacted by this bill, under what I'm terming the "Food Police".

This will homogenize our food supply, leaving us only with GMOs, processed food, & toxic chemicals - junk food with no real nutritional value. They've also been treating meat (really old meat) with Carbon Monoxide to maintain the pink color we associate with "freshness".

Unders similar bills being pushed through Congress, our rights to all natural & herbal remedies, natural healing modalities, etc. are being stripped, as well, in a takeover of the natural health industry by the major pharmaceutical companies. Look up CODEX Almentarius, for more info. They're eliminating all means of enhancing our immune systems naturally in preparation for the WHO takeover of the world, under their own created "pandemics". Vaccines for H1N1 have been ordered in all 194 WHO signatory countries (including the US) & Baxter is set to deliver billions of vaccines next month (September 2009).

Please help me get the word out & if you know anyone in high places with ties to the natural health industries, let them know. I wonder if Whole Foods is aware of this?

I may read this wrong but I think this bill specifically excludes farms and private residences and is mainly talking about the oversight of factories and warehouses of major distributers, importers and exporters of food. At least from what I read...

All of the laws in this bill apply to a "facilitiy" that manufactures, processes, packs, or holds food. Look bellow at how they define these facilities...

Please stop spreading fear for no reason without even reading what you are talking about.

"including backyard gardens" - please stop this nonsense.

    (1) DEFINITION OF FACILITY.—Paragraph (1)
    2 of section 415(b) (21 U.S.C. 350d(b)) is amended to
    3 read as follows:
4 ‘‘(1)(A) The term ‘facility’ means any factory,
5 warehouse, or establishment (including a factory,
6 warehouse, or establishment of an importer) that
7 manufactures, processes, packs, or holds food.
8 ‘‘(B) Such term does not include farms; private
9 residences of individuals; restaurants; other retail
10 food establishments; nonprofit food establishments
11 in which food is prepared for or served directly to
12 the consumer; or fishing vessels (except such vessels
13 engaged in processing as defined in section 123.3(k)
14 of title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, or any suc15
    cessor regulations).

Exactly, so your all safe, your roadside produce stands are safe, your grocer is safe, grow on,
and let's please not have any fear mongering radicals who don't read what they are screaming
about-makes the rest of us look bad, thanks.

        Fear mongering?

If you had read the original bill, you would have been upset as well. But then, maybe not. Your government should always fear you. Why? They work for us and they can be removed if they overstep their bounds. This bill is mighty close to it. It's just another way to steal money without adding any real protections. They are using fear mongering to get their way. All those recent outbreaks from food came directly from USDA inspected facilities. All of them. The USDA cannot enforce laws, they can only levy fines. That's it. Therefore, some companies willingly pay the fines and continue to break the rules. And, if you read the text I provided, all USDA inspected facilities are exempt from this bill. All of them. So....who does that leave?

This was actually a change that was missing from the original text. Notice it says change before that list. I mentioned this a long time ago, was laughed at, but enough of us from across the nation called in and complained apparently, because a change WAS made to the text.

Keep track of your government on a regular basis or your government will control you.

They tried to do this to us north of the border, A bill called C-51. There were protests, petitions, but it still wouldn't have been enough to stop it (IMO). We lucked out with a timely election.
At least the 'fear monger' has made a few of you read the bill- as the fear mongers up here made me read that bill, which wasn't as bad as it was made out to be, either. However, I resent the idea of the government making natural health products available only by prescription- oh, and an excuse to search without a warrant. What it really came down to was that there was a lot of broad generalizations in the bill that would allow for a lot of creative interpretation. I really don't enjoy giving the government a lot of latitude in my personal life.
I don't recommend taking anyone's word for granted on any subject- go read it for yourself, by all means, but do read it.
