Does anyone know of schools where there are classes/or majors offered in these areas? I know there are plenty for horticulture but I want something focusing strictly on doing it in a sustainable method. Preferably something in Pennsylvania, I'm just starting out at my local university and really would prefer to transfer to somewhere that ties in with my true interests and ambitions in life.
THANKS!

Re: Universities where sustainbility/permaculture courses are offered?
Sun, February 22, 2009 - 1:17 PMThe U at Burlington in Vermont should have some good stuff. Since you are not on the West coast, I won't get too into those schools, although the Evergreen College in Eugene and the U at Portland, and in WA at Bellingham would be great starters, but expensive.
If you type permaculture activist on google you should find some good sites where people post regularly the dates and locations of lectures, workshops and gatherings where one might learn and meet other like minded people, and maybe rope a few friends in tot he network as well!
Happy and endless trails, Peter -

Tue, March 3, 2009 - 3:07 PMYou mean UVM (university of vermont) in Burlington? Out of state tuition is ridiculously expensive, and Burlington itself is quite pricey. (I live here)

Fri, March 27, 2009 - 12:18 AMDickinson College has a sustainability initiative, an organic farm that feeds the cafeteria, and a lot of classes take advantage of these resources. PA has an extremely active organic farm association (PASA)- perhaps you should contact them and ask who else is offfering programs?

Fri, May 1, 2009 - 12:35 PMI just visited the Dickinson College (Carlisle PA) farm again and it's really worth checking out. I know that Dickinson itself is probably really expensive , but they're doing some really awesome things with the money.
