Hi, I'm trying to find out how hops and tomatoes would do together. We have a new bed along our tall fence that we are going to plant hops in (my husband is a homebrewer), and there will be room to plant tomatoes as well. Does anyone know if they would do ok together?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Question about companion planting
Tue, February 12, 2008 - 2:31 PMSorry that I don't have an answer, but as a fellow beer drinker I am curious. Hops is very healthy for you outside of beer as well, it's just that beer is an enjoyable ingestion mechanism. :-)
Can't wait to hear what comes of this thread.

Re: Question about companion planting
Tue, February 12, 2008 - 9:39 PMI would think that tomatoes and hops would probably be good together if you can keep them from choking each other.. They are both very aggressive plants. -

Re: Question about companion planting
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 7:30 PMI grew hops & tomatoes a couple feet from each other last year, I mowed back some of the hops so they grew to the left & I trained the tomatoes to go to the right. then I got lazy & they all grew together. but still got a good harvest from both.

Re: Question about companion planting
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 10:08 AMBest to aquire rizhomes if you want a pure strain...Hops (like Marijuana...the only other member of the Canabacea family) has male and female on seperate plants...so there is much crossing that can happen....I can hook you with Rhizomes...
However I do not think that Hops will do well in Hawai'i because they are perennials that need some rest time inthe winter....
Let me know if you want me to send you some....I am not sure the Aghricultural police will allow them in though..
