i'll let ya know.. well on the way there.

      25acres
      130 year old farm house..
      here in Ohio

.. it seems like the local bank loans are a better rate than going through the farm bureau.

ok here's the info in Ohio...

The house and land my fiancees and I are now getting is 24.8 acres / barns and a 1500 sq/ft 150 year old house.. so there is tillable land as well as our primary residence. I don't know what it is you're looking at but there's several factors to your personal equations the take into account. The information we gathered for our equations put us at a 30 year loan @5.64%.. pretty good I think. The local bank we went to first only gave "Balloon Loans" but were at 5.25%... these days i trust the Farm Bureau more than the banks.

          I hope this all helps

.. so now all that needs done is the bank appraisal then we sign on the dotted line. "Soon" we'll have our own 25 acre organic farm / market for the public.

I'll post more info as it grows.

sorry it took so long to get back to this thread..

...we closed on the farm Oct 17. The closing went smooth and quick.. all in all it took about 25min. The farm bureau was on top it's game, even brought us a BBQ house warming set. I'd highly suggest going with the bureau if you can... all you need is more than an acre and proof that the land is being farmed (either by you or someone else..aka share crop).

msg me for more info if need be, and again...

              ... good luck !
